Could You Be a Martham Parish Councillor?
Martham is a wonderful place to live — a green and welcoming community we can all be proud of. Our Parish Council plays an important role in looking after that spirit, and we’re looking for new people to join us.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Care about our community and want to make a positive difference.
- Enjoy listening to others and sharing ideas.
- Believe that teamwork and compromise are the way forward.
- Value honesty, integrity, and a willingness to learn.
- See being a councillor as a chance to help rather than to hold power.
As a Council, we aim to:
- Make real, positive change for Martham.
- Welcome fresh ideas while staying true to the rules — all decisions must be lawful, transparent and accountable.
- Work together as a supportive team, not as individuals with separate agendas.
- Represent the whole community, not just a few voices.
Could this be you?
To stand as a parish councillor you need to:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be a British citizen, a citizen of Ireland, an eligible Commonwealth citizen, or a qualifying EU citizen.
- Are comfortable using everyday technology like smartphones, apps, and the internet.
- And meet one of the following:
- Be registered to vote in the parish.
- Have lived or owned/rented property here in the past 12 months.
- Have worked here in the past 12 months.
If you’d like to play a part in shaping the future of our village, we’d love to welcome you to the Council.
