Last night the pond in the centre of the village was visited by a fox who was eating bread, and trying to catch the ducklings – they are greatly reduced in number, so it is possible on other nights when he isn’t chased off he’s more successful.
Please do not leave any food source at the pond – last Summer there was such a rat problems that they were easily visible running around the edges during the daytime and pest control had to be brought in.
Peas, Sweetcorn and cut up grapes are recommended for ducks – bread damages their digestive systems – and please don’t leave it lying, if the ducks don’t eat what you throw take it home again or put it into the nearby bins.
