Rollesby Road Play Area;

Great Yarmouth Borough Services have just had an inspection of the Play area on Rollesby Road.

They will be attending site with a cleaning machine and a working party, and looking to remove all glass on site.

It is, however, a short term solution if bottles continue to be smashed on site, and cannot happen regularly.

The Parish Council is meeting with Great Yarmouth Borough Council and District Councillors, and the Playingfield Committee to try and find a solution to the current vandalism, graffiti, and antisocial behaviour.

Transport to Acle:

One of the issues raised several times at the Community Led Plan meeting was transport, so this is a repost – please share as widely as you like:

There is a bus service from Martham to Acle and back – call 01493 752223 to book (preferably 24 hours notice). College and other bus passes all accepted. It meets the X1 for onward travel into Norwich.

Martham to Acle
6.30am arriving 7.10
7.25am arriving 8.00
11.30am arriving 12 midday
2.15pm arriving 2.45pm

coming back from Acle; 1.50pm, 4.45pm, 5.30/45pm, 6.30pm.

This service connects with the X1 into Norwich – and costs £1.70 single or £3.00 return. A through ticket to Norwich is availalble including the X1 for £2.80 single or £4.50 return.

Please pass this along to anyone who may benefit from using service.

Community Led Plan Meeting Tonight:

The first meeting is going to be held at the Community Centre at 7.30pm this evening.

Members of the Community need to run and produce this project – The Parish Council are bringing the opportunity to start one, and will be on hand to support the process.

If you have an opinion or idea about the future of the village, have improvements you can see not being made, would like to ensure that future focus is on certain areas – or if are prepared to give up some time to help produce a document that reflects the views of the Parishioners of Martham then please come along.

Tonight will explain more about the process, and give everyone the chance to consider how they would like this to work and what they would like to see come from a consultation.

Policing Summary:

The following is a local policing update for the Rural Flegg Villages neighbourhood

Weekly crime summary 15 – 21 April 2015

Police are reminding residents of the dangers of unexpected tradesmen calling at your door. Most legitimate businesses have moved away from this technique and you are within your rights not to engage with people you have not invited to your door. Some simple measures will help to keep you secure:

· Use a door chain until you have check and confirmed the callers identity

· Ask for Identification and call up the company whilst checking their identity and DO NOT allow them into your house until you are happy

· If you aren’t happy please call the police using 101 and we will attend to check their identity

· DO NOT agree to pay them there and then and get any quotes in writing

· If they claim to have carried out work you don’t believe has been carried out or asked for call the police using 101.

The criminal elements that use this approach will target the old and the vulnerable so please be diligent of people calling on your neighbours who may not be as comfortable as yourself at confronting a caller to their door.

If you wish to have an official ‘No Cold Calling’ sticker for your front door you are very welcome to collect one from Great Yarmouth Police Station.

Remember ‘It’s your door you have the right to ask people to leave!’
